I have been a member of and mentor in New York City's BDSM and LGBTQ communities for about two decades. I hold a Master of Arts (MA) in Psychology, a Master of Social Work (MSW), a Master of Education (MEd) in Human Sexuality, and a Doctoral degree (PhD) in clinical sexology. I'm licensed to practice psychotherapy in New York (LCSW # 086704), New Jersey (LCSW # 44SC06312300), Pennsylvania (CSW # CW024463), Washington DC (LICSW # LC200002083), and Colorado (CSW # 09928901), and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST) and CST Supervisor. I’ve completed EMDRIA-approved EMDR Basic Training through the Parnell Institute, which specializes in Attachment-Focused EMDR, and I also offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy in partnership with Journey Clinical.

I have a private practice in Manhattan, and I work with people across the spectrum of power role identification, gender expression, and sexual orientation, as well as those who are unsure of or evolving through identifications. My therapeutic approach is psychodynamic-based, person-centered, holistic, and tailored to fit the people I work with; I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all therapeutic approach, and integrate different methods as each collaboration indicates.

While my work as a therapist is my primary focus, I like to stay involved in education, research, and outreach. To those ends: I supervise early career therapists and therapists-in-training; I offer supervision and consultations to seasoned psychotherapists and sex therapists; I am an adjunct professor at New York University, where I teach sexual health in social work practice; the founder of ManhattanAlternative.com, a nonprofit listing of alternative lifestyle affirmative providers serving New York City; and a co-founder of the AltSex NYC Conference. I am on the board of directors of Amour Center & Safe House. I am also the creator and host of the talk show web series pilot Kink Doctor. I have published articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented at conferences, lectured in universities, and conducted training in clinical environments on topics of gender diversity and non-mainstream sexuality. I am regularly quoted in the press as an identity and sexuality expert.

I believe that encouraging sex positive outreach, education, empathy, and tolerance in mainstream communities is equally as important as cultivating self-acceptance and -actualization in all individuals, no matter how they identify or choose to live life.
